You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I'm looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

I used to hear this statement "dad bay meeli bugtaa" from my elders I just never knew that this debilitating disease wasn't eradicated yet. We'll have to ask the Melinda & Bill Gates Foundation to include this disease in the GAVI initiatives so we could vaccinate it once and for all. This article was neither political nor had an interior motive to snub at those who are complaining/speaking about the SSC or the other non-Isaaq clans. This article was a short celebratory piece that was speaking of the sentiment of the Somalilanders taking it to the streets of various major cities around the world commemorating the 20th birthday of their beloved nation. I must say Miss Rayale did a pretty good job of capturing the sentiment of the people, old and new alike who came to not only celebrate this milestone but who also wanted the world to know they have existed with grace, resilience and dignity w/out international recognition for this long and will keep on existing for however long it takes with or w/out recognition. Now those of you who pray/wish for this to not come true and rally against the statehood of Somaliland and its' recognition only have disappointment to look forward to. Because Somaliland existed before, still exists now, and will forever exist. Take your plights/fights to someone who would listen and cares 'cause it ain't here. We are too busy planning and looking forward to another 20 years of prosperity and blessings.

Somaliland is a clan project fairly and squarely. It has neither legal basis nor the loyalty of the all clans who inhabit in the north. Given the gene of Somalis - The clan enclave - aka Somaliland has one of two choices either it oppresses and liquidates the non-Isakis -- This is a toll order and will never be achieved in my view - but "SL" zealots have the option of pursuing that path or SL accepts the right of Self Determinations to others in the region as such a confidence building can be fostered.

Because of globalization, and we are living in a globalized village - nothing can be hidden anymore - the oppression, arbitrary arrests, enslavement, degrading and violations of human rights against non Isaqis are well documented. Thus, Somaliland should never be recognized and If even it recognized it will be a replica of the South. The clan enclave should leave the regions that don't subscribe to its ideals. A short of it is just a recipe for disaster.

I think the conflict in Sool, Sanag and Cayn is more complicated than that. There are multiple actors with competing interests even among the communities that inhabit the areas. I also think its an overstatement to suggest that Somalilanders seek recognition at the cost of human life. Somaliland's early achievements incorporated communities in the region through persistent dialogue and these community leaders in Sool, Sanag and Cayn approached the peace process equally as such. The devastation from the civil war is a part of the historical memory of all Somali's. And yet, the achievements of Somaliland cannot be denied. The human rights record of the state is something left to be desired and yet there are individuals on the ground working to hold the state accountable. I would venture to say the ensuing conflict in the SSC region has less to do with the ordinary people than with community leaders holding a particular agenda. Ordinary Somalilanders will also work hard to hold their leaders accountable - but this is not about the efforts of peoples who have and continue to work hard to build and sustain peace. Somaliland's recognition pursuits are not legitimate based upon the efforts of its citizens - less so the government.
