Worldtown Hearsay :: Who Are We Because Yes, it Matters

Submitted by thisisworldtown on August 15, 2010 – 11:33 pmNo Comment

gyongeFor anyone who likes to think identity politics is dead, irrelevent or both - Gary Younge, the prolific writer/commentator for the Guardian has published a new book on 21st identity politics: Who are We-And Should it Matter in the 21st Century, that tosses that idea out for the previous ages. This is not about creating relativist divisions, but an opportunity for showing the collective way in which cultures have pulled out of conflict and clashes. He justifies his argument on the BBC Programme BOOKTalk.  Watch Part One of his interview below as he makes the rather pressing case why it does matter who we are.
